ANCIENT FIGS THROUGH HISTORY

The fig tree, 'Ficus carica,' possibly originated in Northern Asia according to archeological fossil records. Spanish missionaries brought it to the United States in 1520. Historical Sumerian tablets record the use and expenditure of figs in 2500 BC.
